Origin: Cape Provinces and the Northern Provinces of South Africa
These evergreen flowering plants are also known as Foxtail asparagus ferns. Despite its name, these plants are not actually ferns as they multiple from seeds and do not produce spores like ferns. Their beautiful plumes have needle-like leaves that are packed tightly together but appear soft and delicate. They can produce white flowers and form red berries.
These hardy plants flourish with limited care. Once they are established, they are drought resistant. Allow the top two inches of soil to dry between watering. Prune back any yellow stems to tidy appearance and encourage new growth.
