It also makes a nice cut flower. Brilliant Yellow flowers 2.5-5cm (1-2\") across bloom on erect stems 60cm (2') tall pretty well all summer long. Lance leaved coreopsis also self-seeds very easily and tolerates both heat and drought. Start seed indoors in a soil-less mix in early spring for bloom the same season. Keep at 24C (75F) for the 15-20 day germination period. After that, grow on under lights at a slightly cooler temperature before hardening off and transplanting outside to a sunny spot. Outdoors, direct sow seed from mid May to early June - keep the soil moist during the germination period. Thin seedlings to stand 30cm (12\") apart in formal plantings. Divide plants every two to three years. Blooms June through fall.
