Maranta leuconeura 'Kerchoveana'
Origin: Central & South america, The West Indies
This slow growing plant is ideal for office spaces. It is a low grower: more horizontal than vertical. Its name comes from the way the leaves fold together at night, like hands during prayer. There are over 40 species of prayer plants. Kerchoveana has beautiful green leaves with purple markings between its veins. Prayer Plants are great houseplants. They are hardy and versatile low growers. Their colourful foliage looks great anywhere, including in a hanging basket. Prayer Plants are native to swamps in tropical environments, which means they love the humidity and well-draining, lightly moist soil. Despite being low growing tropical plants, they do like some bright light. Prayer Plants will tolerate low light, but their ideal conditions would include bright indirect light.
