Container Growing: Use pots minimum 15 inch diameter and 12 inches deep. Lettuce thrives in cool weather; plant in spring, and again in later summer for fall crop. In hot weather, provide pots with some afternoon shade. When seedlings are several inches tall, thin to 6 inches apart, giving heads room to grow. Keep evenly moist and mulch well. Cut when heads are well filled out.
