Okra is grown for its slender, pointed pods that develop from attractive flowers in the leaf axils. The pods are dark green, straight, slightly grooved and spineless. Production is best in areas with hot summer weather. Serve fried, in soups and stews, and use for pickling. When picked off vine – use a quickly as possible for best quality.
