Dryopteris wallichiana - Jurassic Gold

A radiant wood fern, Dryopteris wallichiana ‘Jurassic Gold’ dazzles with young fronds unfurling in shades of coral-orange and golden yellow before maturing to glossy green. It forms a compact vase-shaped clump about 18–24 in (45–60 cm) tall and 18 in (45 cm) wide, ideal for containers, shaded borders, or woodland gardens. Thriving in part to full shade with moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil, it tolerates dry shade once established and requires low maintenance. A semi-evergreen fern that’s deer- and rabbit-resistant, it earned accolades such as Best New Plant (Hort Week 2019) for its vibrant Spring foliage and enduring garden presence.
