Epimedium × youngianum ‘Roseum’
A delightful shade-loving groundcover, Epimedium × youngianum ‘Roseum’ (aka Barrenwort 'Roseum', Fairy Wings 'Roseum') forms a low mound of mid-green, ovate leaves that flush bronze in spring and take russet tones come fall. In mid to late spring, airy sprays of nodding bell-shaped lilac-pink flowers (~2 cm across) rise on wiry red stems, creating a soft pastel haze above the foliage. This deciduous perennial grows to about 20–30 cm (8–12″) tall by 30–45 cm (12–18″) wide, thriving in part to full shade in well-drained soil, and is both drought-tolerant once established and resistant to deer and rabbits.
