Euphorbia characias Wulfenii - Spurge
A bold and architectural evergreen subshrub, Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii—commonly called Mediterranean Spurge—forms upright, woody-based clumps 2–4 ft (60–120 cm) tall and wide. In spring to early summer, lance-shaped blue-green foliage is topped with striking lime-yellow flower clusters (bracts) accented by purple nectar glands, which remain showy for weeks. Adaptable and drought-tolerant once established, it thrives in well-drained soil under full sun to light shade and withstands hot, dry summers and coastal winds. Deer- and rabbit-resistant and an excellent pollinator plant, it brings year-round interest and structure to borders, rock gardens, or containers.
