Iris sibirica - Chilled Wine
An enchanting Siberian iris, ‘Chilled Wine’ displays richly scented blooms combining wine-red standards and falls splashed with cobalt blue veins, accented by violet overtones and white throats for dramatic contrast. Flowering stems rise about 75–99 cm (30–38 in) above a vase-shaped clump of slender, grass-like foliage in late spring to early summer, making an elegant vertical statement. Exceptionally hardy in Zones 3–9, it thrives in moist but well-drained soil, tolerates partial shade, and performs well in rain gardens, along pond margins, or in perennial borders. A strong performer for cut flower use, it is also naturally deer- and rabbit-resistant, with foliage that remains tidy and attractive throughout summer.
