MEXICAN SHELL FLOWER
The Tigridia, also known as the Tiger Flower or Mexican Shell Flower, is a bulbous flowering plant belonging to the Iridaceae family. Native to Mexico and Guatemala, it showcases large, showy flowers that come in vivid colors of pink, red, white, yellow, cream, orange, or scarlet. The flowers, which resemble a tiger’s coat or seashell, bloom in succession for two to three weeks in the summer. The plant grows quickly to flower in summer, with the foliage dying back in fall. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, slightly alkaline soil. Despite its exotic appearance, the Tigridia is relatively easy to grow and care for, making it a perfect addition to any garden.
