Gaillardia aristata
Large, eye-catching, daisy-like flowers with yellow-tipped petals, deepening to a rich apricot in the centres. Mounded uniform plants are a foot high and spread about afoot. Good cut flower. Fine border and container plant. Blooms early summer into fall. Drought and heat tolerant. Attracts butterflies. Full sun. Average, well-drained soil.
Cool start in flats: Early spring, late spring
Sowing depth: For tiny seed cover very lightly, otherwise sow no deeper than 2-4 times the seed diameter. Direct seed to garden, late spring. Cool start flats, early spring.
