Heirloom Vegetable. An introduction form the early 1930’s, Burgess Buttercup produces smallish fruit averaging 1.7 kg (3.7 lbs) with sweet, fibreless, thick orange coloured flesh and a distinct cup on the blossom end. The skin on mature fruit is buff green in colour with narrow grey stripes. This is a very reliable variety that generally produces a large crop. Winter squash typically mature later in the season and are heavy skinned varieties that are ideal for long term storage!
