The Anemone de Caen ‘Fullstar Blue’, otherwise simply known as the Anemone ‘Fullstar Blue’, is a relatively new addition to the 2021 bulb market. Often used in cut flower work, ‘Carmel White’ anemones are a fantastic choice for bouquets and other arrangements. Plant bulbs 2 inches deep and 4 inches apart in a well-draining medium; anemones like moist soil, but not soggy! Bone Meal is a great soil additive for a health boost as well. When planted in September through December, you can expect large white blooms with dark purple hearts to pop up in the spring or early summer. The plants grow to roughly 16 inches tall with relatively minimal spreading. Carmel Whites are also deer-resistant and butterfly attractors! Note that de Caen anemones are frost sensitive, meaning that these flowers should be moved and/or protected before the first frost. Note that anemones are poisonous to pets and humans if ingested in large quantities.
