Asclepias tuberosa ‘Gay Butterflies’

A striking, clump-forming butterfly weed that glows with multicoloured umbels ranging from fiery red and orange to sunny yellow throughout mid to late summer. Reaching 2–3 ft tall and about 2 ft wide, it stands upright on sturdy stems, showcasing fragrant blossoms that enthrall bees, hummingbirds, monarchs, and a variety of butterflies. Extremely drought- and deer-resistant thanks to its deep taproot and milky sap, it thrives in well-drained, lean soils with minimal care. Post-bloom, attractive seed pods add architectural and dried-flower interest into autumn.
