ANGEL WINGS
Caladium ‘Pink Beauty’ (Angel Wings) is a tuberous perennial plant with large, heart-shaped leaves that are soft salmon-pink in color and adorned with bright green margins. The leaves are the main attraction of this plant, and they are prized for their elegance. In summer, inconspicuous calla-type flowers appear, but they are usually hidden by the leaves. This fancy-leafed Caladium is ideal to brighten borders and containers. It also makes an excellent houseplant. Caladium is a tropical plant native to South and Central America, grown for its showy, colorful foliage rather than its flowers. Caladiums require warm soil to emerge and thrive. They perform best in part shade to full shade, in humusy, moist, well-drained soils. Direct sun should be avoided as the leaves may scorch. Regular moisture should be provided, and soils should not be allowed to dry out. Generally disease and pest-free, this plant requires little maintenance. Watch for slugs and snails. Tubers may be left in the ground in mild winter climates (USDA Zones 9-11). In colder areas, dig the tubers in fall before the first frost and store them in a cool, dry place over winter. To be planted in spring. Harmful if eaten, skin and eye irritant. Wear gloves and other protective equipment when handling. Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
