Gardener's Notes: For a continuous supply, sow in early spring & plant again 2 weeks later until summer heat arrives. In hot weather, provide some afternoon shade. Sow seeds 1-2 inches apart & cover lightly, about 1/4 inch deep. Keep soil evenly moist. Thin seedlings to 10 inches apart; lettuce grows best if not crowded. Harvest large outer leaves as needed or let plants grow and cut as loose heads. Sow again in early fall for another harvest.
