Epimedium × youngianum ‘Niveum’
A graceful woodland groundcover, Epimedium × youngianum ‘Niveum’—also known as “Snowy Barrenwort” or “Young’s White Barrenwort”—features delicate sprays of pure white, star-shaped flowers held aloft on red stems in mid to late spring. Its heart-shaped leaves emerge with a red-tinged flush, mature to green through summer, and transform to bronze-red in autumn, providing multi-seasonal interest. Compact and clump-forming, it grows 15–23 cm (6–9″) tall with a spread of 30–45 cm (12–18″), making it ideal for shaded borders, rock gardens, or as a woodland groundcover. Low-maintenance and resilient, it thrives in part to full shade and average, dry to moist soil, tolerates drought once established, and is resistant to deer and rabbits.
