Lavandula × intermedia - Phenomenal
A standout lavandin hybrid, ‘Phenomenal’ (trade name Niko, PP24193) is unmatched in durability and fragrance. It forms a compact, symmetrical mound of silvery-blue evergreen foliage, topped in mid‑summer by striking violet-blue flower spikes (~12 cm / 5″ long) on upright stems. Blooms may rebloom into early fall with deadheading, and the cultivar shows exceptional tolerance to cold, heat, humidity, drought, and wind, outperforming most lavenders in challenging climates—including Zone 4 with protective mulch. Fragrant foliage and flowers attract bees, butterflies, birds, while the aromatic leaves help repel deer and rabbits. Ideal for herb and pollinator gardens, dried arrangements, or fragrant borders.
