Lilium Martagon - Claude Shride
Lilium martagon ‘Claude Shride’ is a dramatic Martagon lily celebrated for its graceful, nodding Turk’s-cap flowers and tall, architectural stature. At maturity, it reaches 3–4 ft (≈ 90–120 cm) tall, with slender stems adorned by whorled green foliage and topped by clusters of dark maroon-red, recurved petals speckled with golden-orange centers. Blooming in early to mid-summer (June–September), each stalk can bear 20–50 fragrant flowers, making it a butterfly magnet and excellent for cut flower use. Hardy and long-lived, this cultivar thrives in well‑drained soils in full sun to partial shade, showing strong resistance to disease and deer browsing.
