Oregon Sugar Pod Pea. Plants produce 10cm (4in) long, light green pods about 2cm (3/4in) wide. Generally there are two pods per cluster. The pods are quite suitable for eating fresh, stir-fried or for freezing. This improved snow pea variety is resistant to many viruses, powdery mildew and common wilt. White flowers.
Approx. 50 seeds
Sow: March-June in flat trenches 6in (15cm) wide, and 2in (5cm) deep. Plant seeds in a zig-zag fashion along the middle of the trench, allowing 3in (7.5cm) between them. Fill trenches with soil and gently firm down. Where more than one row of peas is required, allow 3ft (90cm) between rows. Harvest: June onwards, gathering peas just before they are needed to ensure the very best flavour. Pick regularly.
Harvest when young and rather immature. Perfect when sown for fall crop in mid-summer.
We advise using sticks or twigs to support the crop as this will make picking easier and improve yields.
