- Zone 4
Allium “Globemaster” boasts one of the largest flowering heads of any allium, at an impressive 10 inches in diameter. This striking perennial bloom consists of many small star-shaped florets. These purple blooms are also some of the longest-lasting among Allium species, for even more enjoyment! Happiest in full sun and well-draining soil, “Globemaster” is low-maintenance and tolerant of drought and shade. It grows best in hardiness zone 4 but can also be planted in zones 5 through 9. Plant the bulbs in the fall (Sept-Dec) at a depth of 6 inches, leaving 12 inches of space between each bulb. “Globemaster’s” magnificent bloom will arrive in late spring (May - June). This easy-to-plant variety will surely be the centerpiece of any garden or yard. Alliums are deer resistant, but be aware that they are toxic if ingested by dogs, cats, or horses.
