The delicate yet hardy perennial Pulsatilla vulgaris (Pasque Flower) features velvety, nodding blooms in early spring—often in shades of soft lavender, pink or white—followed by silky, feathery seed heads that lend the garden a whimsical air. It thrives in full sun and well-drained, moderately infertile soil (sandy or gravelly) and is suitable for Canadian climates down to zone 4 or colder when drainage is excellent. Because of its tap-rooted nature and summer dormancy, it’s best planted once and left undisturbed in rock gardens, alpine beds or sunny borders. Explore our Wildwood Express collection to discover the perfect pasque flower and bring bright spring colour and enduring texture to your garden.
