Angelica - gigas
Bold and architectural, Angelica gigas features tall, sturdy, burgundy-purple stems rising from a clump of large, deeply dissected green leaves. In mid to late summer, it produces impressive dome-shaped umbels of rich crimson-purple flowers up to 20 cm across, which persist for several weeks and transition to striking seed heads in early fall. This dramatic biennial/perennial is a magnet for pollinators—bees, butterflies, even hummingbirds—and works equally well as a cut or dried flower. Low-maintenance and deer-resistant, it’s perfect as a solo specimen or planted in masses for maximum impact.
