Hosta – Yellow River
A celebrated medium‑large hosta, ‘Yellow River’ produces dark green heart‐shaped leaves edged in bright yellow margins, which gradually fade to creamy white as the season progresses. This vigorous clumper forms an attractive 0.5–1 m (20–40 in) tall mound and spreads to around 1.5–1.8 m (60–70 in) across in maturity. In early to mid‑summer, it sends up slender scapes up to 1 m tall, topped with white to pale lavender bell‑shaped flowers that attract hummingbirds and pollinators. Hardy in USDA Zones 3a–9b, this cultivar excels in bright shade to light morning sun, prefers moist, well‑drained rich soil, and boasts good resistance to verticillium wilt, and slugs.
