Ligularia - Przewalskii

A dramatic and statuesque perennial, Ligularia przewalskii (also known as Przewalski’s leopard plant or golden ray) captivates with its deeply cut, palm-shaped foliage on purple‑black stems, forming a monumental mound that typically reaches 4–6 ft (120–180 cm) tall and 2–3 ft (60–90 cm) wide. In mid to late summer (July–August), it sends up soaring flower spikes adorned with bright golden-yellow daisy-like blooms that hover well above the foliage and shine even in shady beds. Best suited to moist, rich soil in part shade to full shade with protection from afternoon heat, this hardy beauty performs reliably in Zones 3-9. Ideal as a stunning specimen in rain gardens, along ponds, or at the back of moist border plantings where its dramatic size and form can be fully appreciated.
