Mostly grown for local market it is also a popular home garden choice. The 2”/5cm thick stem growing to approximately 9”/23cm long bears medium green leaves and produces a lower stem with a mild onion flavour. Cultivate and draw up earth well around plants to grow tender white portions. Excellent in soup and stews, or as a sautéed accompaniment. Serve baked in parchment as well
