Actaea japonica - Silver Dance

Graceful mounds of silvery-green foliage with contrasting red-purple veins provide a stunning display throughout the growing season, turning to fresh green by midsummer. From mid-summer to early fall, upright black stems bear fragrant, creamy-white bottlebrush flower spikes that softly elongated, offering a delicate, airy presence in shaded garden settings. Tolerant of moist, humus-rich soil in partial sun to shade, Silver Dance matures into a compact shrub-like bugbane ideal for woodland borders and shade gardens. Naturally deer- and rabbit-resistant and a magnet for bees and butterflies, it’s an elegant and resilient choice—but note, all parts are toxic if ingested, so handle with care.
