Gillenia - trifoliata
A graceful woodland perennial, Gillenia trifoliata (Bowman’s Root) features airy clusters of star-shaped white to pale-pink blooms atop wiry red stems in late spring to early summer. Growing between 60–100 cm (24–40 in) tall with a spread of 45–90 cm (18–36 in), its fine-textured, three-lobed foliage emerges bronze, shifts to olive-green through summer, and flushes burgundy-red in autumn. Native to eastern North America and aglow with seasonal color, it thrives in part sun to shade and moist, well-drained soil.
