Gardener's Notes: Cucumbers are a warm-season crop. Sow directly into rich, well-drained soil in full sun in late spring, once night temps reach 55F (10C). Sow 5-6 seeds 1/2 inch deep and 4 inches apart in low hills 2 ft. apart. Thin, leaving only the three strongest plants per hill. water consistently for mild, sweet fruits. Tie vines into short supports for easy picking. Pick often for best production when 4-6 inches long by cutting, not pulling cukes from vines.
