Allium - Blue Eddy

Allium senescens ‘Blue Eddy’ is a charming, compact ornamental onion prized for its swirling blue-gray foliage resembling gentle water eddies. In late summer to early fall, tidy clusters of pale lilac-pink spherical blooms—around 4 cm (1.5") across—emerge atop leafless stems just above the foliage, offering long-lasting beauty and excellent cut-flower presence. Growing in neat clumps 20–30 cm (8–12") tall and wide, it spreads slowly via short rhizomes and occasionally seeds, thriving in well-drained soil under full sun to part shade. Deer and rabbits avoid it, while bees and butterflies are drawn to its nectar-rich blooms. With its drought tolerance, low maintenance, and ability to enliven rock gardens, containers, borders, and pollinator-friendly spaces, Blue Eddy makes a delightful and resilient addition to any garden.
