Belamcanda chinensis - Freckle Face
A striking garden performer, ‘Freckle Face’ forms elegant clumps of sword-shaped leaves topped by tall stems of warm golden-orange flowers heavily freckled with red–brown spots for a playful, leopard-like look. Blooms emerge in mid to late summer, each lasting a day but followed by fresh blooms over several weeks, extending the floral display into early fall. After flowering, tan pear-shaped seed pods split open to reveal glossy black seeds resembling berries—offering attractive winter interest and great for dried arrangements. Easy-care and adaptable, this iris-family perennial thrives in full sun to light shade and well‑drained soil; it attracts butterflies, tolerates heat and drought once established, and displays good deer resistance.
