Scripus - Stars & Stripes
Scirpus pendulus ‘Stars and Stripes’ is a distinctive ornamental bulrush featuring narrow, arching leaves with bright yellow centres, green and gold streaking, and strong green margins. In midsummer, butter-yellow stems rise above the foliage to about 45–60 cm (18–24 in.), ending in delicate, star-like flower clusters that give the plant its memorable name. This compact, grass-like perennial prefers moist soil and brings colourful texture and graceful movement to borders, rain gardens, pond edges, and naturalistic plantings. Hardy and easy to grow, it performs well in full sun to partial shade and spreads slowly through rhizomatous, fibrous roots.
