Chelone lyonii - Tiny Tortuga

This charming compact turtlehead, Chelone lyonii ‘Tiny Tortuga’, forms neat mounds of glossy, bronzy-green foliage crowned by clusters of hot-pink, snapdragon-like blooms. Reaching just 16–24″ tall and 12–16″ wide, it’s the shortest cultivar in the series, ideal for containers, borders, or rain gardens. Blooming from mid-summer into early fall, its showy flowers attract pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, while deer and rabbits steer clear. Exceptionally adaptable, it thrives in moist, humus-rich soils and provides cut-flower appeal.
