Organic heirloom seedsAn essential herb for cooking, chives thrive in any sunny location. The fast-growing leaves are topped in spring by delicate purple flowers. Leaves and flowers have a mild, sweet onion flavour. Great in salads and egg dishes.

Gardener's Notes: In early spring, sow clusters of 7-10 seeds, 8-10 inches apart and 1/4 inch deep in a sunny spot with well-worked, fertile soil. Chives can also be started indoors in containers 6 weeks before last frost. Plants will form handsome mounds in the garden. Fertilize plants monthly with a high nitrogen fertilizer. Harvest by snipping off leaves, using scissors, leaving 2 inch crown to regrow.
