Gardener's Notes: Cucumbers are a warm-season crop. Sow directly into rich, well-drained soil in full sun in late spring, once night temps reach 55F (13C). Sow 5-6 seeds 1/2 inch deep & 4 inches apart in low hills 2 ft, apart. Thin, leaving only the three strongest plants per hill. Water consistently for mild, sweet fruits. Tie vines onto short supports for easy picking. Check vines daily and harvest at 3-4 inches for picking.
