Cucumis sativus
Sweet, crisp, and delicious, large pickle size. Common in the Southern US, adapted to the Pacific Northwest. 6-9 days to germinate, 48 days to maturity.
Sow April – May and transplant in June. To transplant, harden off the seedlings gradually and plant in a spot that receives full sun. Or direct seed in mid-June: make mounds 45cm apart with compost mixed into the soil and sow three seeds per mound, 2.5cm deep. Thin to the strongest seedling when the first true leaves have appeared. Water the soil around plants; keep leaves dry. Protect from birds!
Certified organic in British Columbia.
