Dianthus caryophyllus
This perennial features fringed flower petals similar to carnations. The fragrant double flowers bloom in a variety of colors through summer and fall. Plants are compact, and popular as edgings and borders, or in containers. They work well in rock gardens, and are long-lasting cut flowers. Bloom best in cooler weather. If plants stop blooming in the heat of summer, shear tops.
