Dianthus spp.
Spicy, clove-scented flowers in a mix of whites, purples, pinks and mauves. Small flowers in dense, flat-topped terminal clusters. 2-ft plants are wonderful for border displays, rockeries, containers and cutting gardens. Dianthus plants attract butterflies, hummingbirds and pollinating insects. Seldom grazed by deer. Biennial sowed April-June to flower May-June of the following year. Also called Pinks and Sweet William. 100 seeds or more.
Sow depth: For tiny seed cover very lightly, otherwise sow no deeper than 2-4 times the seed diameter.
