Camassia Leichtlinii “Alba” is a beautiful variety of Camas known for its creamy-white coloured blooms. These star-shaped flowers line the tall (12”) spires of this bulbous perennial. Each flower has six showy tepals, a green centre, and attractive purple stamens. Borne on stout, willowy stems, the blooms open sequentially from bottom to top for a long-lasting display! “Alba” is easy to grow and prefers full to partial sun and is suitable for growing in USDA hardiness zones 4 through 8. Plant during the fall months (Sept-Dec) in preparation for an early spring/late summer (June - July) bloom. In fertile, moist, well-draining soil plant the bulbs at a depth of 4”, leaving approximately 4” of space between bulbs. This deer-resistant variety can be used to liven up any garden or can be cut to be used as a fanciful addition to a homemade bouquet!
