Athyrium niponicum - Godzilla

A dramatic giant Japanese painted fern, Athyrium niponicum ‘Godzilla’ forms massive, graceful clumps of arching silvery‑green fronds with dark purple stems and mid‑ribs. This striking cultivar can reach 30–36 in (75–90 cm) high and spread 48–72 in (120–180 cm), making it a standout focal point in shaded areas. Thriving in part to full shade with moist, humus‑rich, well‑drained soil, it tolerates drier conditions better than many ferns. Low‑maintenance, deer‑ and rabbit‑resistant, and slow-spreading, it's perfect for woodland borders, shady mass plantings, or dramatic container accents.
