Adiantum pedatum - Maidenhair Fern

A graceful northern maidenhair fern, Adiantum pedatum features delicate, fan-shaped fronds arranged like spokes on slender, shiny black stems. It forms tidy arching clumps of bright green foliage that rise 12–24 in tall, spreading slowly via rhizomes to carpet part-shade areas over time. Native to moist, rich woodlands in eastern North America, it's valued for its low-maintenance habit and deer resistance. Ideal in shaded borders, woodland gardens, and naturalized landscapes, it thrives in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil.
