MARIONBERRIES
The Marionberry is a celebrated hybrid blackberry known for its exceptional flavour, medium‑to‑large glossy dark berries and a distinguished heritage from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. With fruit that ripens to a deep reddish‑purple black and offers a rich, earthy‑sweet taste, it’s a standout for both fresh eating and preserves. The canes are vigorous and reach substantial length, making support or trellising a smart choice for home gardens. Originating from a cross between ‘Chehalem’ and ‘Olallie’ varieties, Marionberry has earned a reputation as the “king” (or as some say “cabernet”) of blackberries for its flavour complexity and texture.
Planting Instructions
Blackberries are a very easy berry to grow. Blackberries are perennials that will return to provide an abundance of berries year after year! They are best planted in early spring, once the threat of frost has passed. Ensure you have well-draining soil. Add additional fertilizer if needed. Blackberries thrive best in a location with full sun, and lots of space for them to spread. Shady locations will provide smaller yields of fruit. Space your berries about 2 to 3 feet apart.
