Ferraria crispa

A striking and unusual bulbous plant, commonly called the Starfish Lily, Ferraria crispa boasts wildly fringed, star‐shaped blooms in mottled tones of cream, brown, purple and green that appear in late winter to spring. Native to South Africa’s Western and Northern Cape provinces, this fascinating species thrives in dry–summer, Mediterranean‑type climates. Each flower is richly patterned and often fragrant (though some forms bear a more pungent scent) making it a conversation‑piece in beds or containers.Ā Because it is frost‑tender, it works best in Canada in sheltered borders with winter protection or as a container plant that can be lifted or moved for overwintering.

  • 1 Pack
  • Exotic star‑shaped blooms with frilled margins and intricate spotting
  • Great for Containers & Mixed Borders
  • Native to South African winter‑rain zones; requires dry dormancy and minimal winter wet
