Helictotrichon sempervirens

Blue oat grass 'Helictotrichon sempervirens' forms tidy, fountain-like clumps of narrow, steel-blue leaves that arch gracefully. In early to mid-summer, tan oat-like panicles rise about 2 ft above the foliage, turning golden-brown by fall and adding year-round interest. A hardy, semi-evergreen ornamental suited to full sun and dry, well-drained soils, it tolerates drought, salt, urban pollution, deer, and rabbits. Low-maintenance and visually striking—perfect for rock gardens, borders, mass plantings, or as a specimen accent.
