Iris sibirica - Black Joker

A dramatic Siberian iris featuring deep, velvety purple‑black falls edged in gold, paired with bright lavender‑blue standards highlighted with sunny yellow edging. The contrast-rich blooms appear in early to mid-summer (typically June), standing gracefully about 56 cm (22 in) tall above narrow, grass‑like foliage. Widely celebrated for its exotic palette, ‘Black Joker’ attracts bees and butterflies and releases a light fragrance that becomes more noticeable in larger plantings. This vigorous clumping iris is hardy in Zones 3–9 and thrives in moist but well‑drained soil under full sun to part shade. It tolerates a variety of soils, naturalizes over time, and is highly resistant to deer and rabbits.
