Astilboides tabularis

A striking perennial, commonly known as Roger’s Flower or Shieldleaf Rodgersia, prized for its enormous, glossy, round leaves (up to 90 cm across) that emerge on tall stalks in late spring. In early to midsummer, tall stems rise above the foliage, carrying airy cream-white plumes of tiny, star-shaped blossoms that offer subtle beauty above a sea of bold greenery. Thriving in consistently moist, humus-rich soil under partial to full shade—especially near ponds or woodland gardens—this hardy plant brings dramatic, tropical-style structure to cooler climates. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, low-maintenance, and excellent for pollinator attraction, it makes an unforgettable specimen or focal point.
