Calamagrostis acutiflora - Karl Foerster

A classic and award-winning feather reed grass, ‘Karl Foerster’ forms a tight, upright clump of glossy green foliage that quickly becomes a column of structure in the garden. Early summer brings slender stalks rising 5–6 ft (150–180 cm), topped with pink‑tinged plumes that mature to bronze and finally golden‑tan, persisting through winter for multi-season interest. Praised for its low-maintenance nature, it's tolerant of clay, drought, and compacted soils, while being deer-resistant and sterile—so it won't self-seed. Perfect for vertical accents, mass plantings, cut arrangements, or as a perennial backdrop.
