Incarvillea delavayi

Brighten your garden with Incarvillea delavayi, commonly known as hardy gloxinia or flowering fern. Clumps of deeply cut, fern‑like foliage up to ~45 cm (18 in) long provide a lush backdrop for upright stems bearing trumpet‑shaped blooms in deep pink to magenta hues, each with a sunny yellow throat, from late spring into mid‑summer. Reaching 40–60 cm (16–24 in) tall and spreading similarly wide, it thrives in moist, well‑drained soil and is best suited to rock gardens, borders, or containers where drainage and airflow are good. A magnet for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, it performs best in full sun to bright shade—and dislikes hot, humid summers and poorly drained winter conditions.
