Yucca - filamentosa

A bold and architectural evergreen, Yucca filamentosa—commonly called Adam’s Needle—features stiff, sword-like rosettes of blue-green leaves with distinctive white filamentous threads along the edges. In early to mid-summer, tall flower spikes reaching 5–8 ft arise from the center, bearing clusters of creamy-white, nodding, bell-shaped blooms that attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and nocturnal yucca moths. Exceptionally hardy (zones 5–9), it thrives in full sun on well-drained soil and once established requires minimal water—making it ideal for rock gardens, slopes, or drought-prone landscapes. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, this low-maintenance perennial also performs well in containers and tolerates a wide range of soil types including sand, clay, and salt‑affected areas.
