Rudbeckia nitida - Herbstsonne

Rudbeckia nitida ‘Herbstsonne' - is a tall, show-stopping perennial that illuminates late-season garden borders with its glowing, daisy-like blooms. Measuring 3 to 7 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide, it forms an upright, clump-forming silhouette crowned by bright golden petals that gracefully droop around a striking pale-green center. This award–winning variety produces large, 3–4 inch flowers from mid-summer well into fall, providing long-lasting color and excellent cut-flower potential. Easy to grow and low-maintenance, ‘Herbstsonne’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil, though it tolerates drought once established. It is robust enough to withstand heat, humidity, and even occasional flooding. Deer typically ignore it, and butterflies flock to its blooms. For cut-flower use, this plant excels—and its seedheads offer winter interest for birds.
